Art Collections: Exhibition At Yangon’s National Museum

Yangon’s National Museum organized an Art Exhibition with the aim of collecting artistic works of Myanmar artists.

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition held at the museum on Tuesday.

The exhibition also aims to collect the paintings to be displayed at the museum permanently.

Assistant Director, National Museum (Yangon), Kyaw Shin Naung said “We discussed with some famous artists to organize this exhibition for 5 months. We want to show up about art works’ trend between 2000 to 2018 to the visitors and to collect paintings for Museum. We also plan to hold this kind of exhibition at National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw).”

74 art works of 73 Famous artists are on display at the exhibition. The panel of judges will select some paintings to be displayed at the museums in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw.

Artist, Lun Gywe said “My painting is named “lovely dancer” that mixed with dance, culture and fine arts and its type is Acrylic on canvas. Mostly my paintings are filled with Myanmar souls as I am Myanmar Citizen. I am very glad to involve in this kind of exhibition.”

Artist, Win Phay Myint said “My painting displayed here is titled “Under the Sunshine”. Its type is Oil on canvas and it took nearly one month. I also thanks to the Museum to hold this exhibition with many famous artists across the country.”

The exhibition will be held for 9 days from February 20th to 28th at the National Museum’s Multipurpose Hall. All the enthusiasts are invited to visit the exhibition free of charge.

Visitor, Hein Myat Zar Lwin said “It is hard to see this kind of exhibition that involved many famous artists. Art Exhibition should hold more frequently for those who interested in painting like me.”

Museum Talk and demonstration of artists are also involved as part of the exhibition to educate the visitors about the museum.
