Badminton Championship: Myanmar National Badminton Championship 2017 Kicks Off

Myanmar National Badminton Championship 2017 kicked off on Sunday Morning at Myanmar Badminton Federation.

The Myanmar National Badminton Championship 2017 is held with the management of Myanmar Badminton Federation for the second time. The championship held this time is the biggest tournament in Myanmar’s Badminton history with more than 420 contestants.

Assistant Trainer, Myanmar Badminton Federation, Myint Kyaw Tun said “Indonesian and Myanmar trainers collaborated to coach the contestants for one year. Two months before this competition, the participants were trained hard. We will send off the top 8 female and male contestants of the highest rank to the international badminton tournaments. The winners from other rankings will be awarded with first, second and third prizes.”

Myanmar recently won 4 gold medals in Yunnan Asian International Tournament 2017. Moreover, 8 trainees from the Federation participated in the International Series 2017 held in Nepal and won a bronze medal.

Secretary, Myanmar Badminton Federation, Nyan Lwin said “Preparations for this competition started in August after the Southeast Asia championship. The trainees from various clubs of States and Regions participated in this tournament. The judges are well-trained and had the experience of judging at Asian Youth Championship held in October 2017.”

Myanmar Badminton Federation will fully support both the contestants and the judges to be able to participate in the international competitions. After this competition, the most outstanding contestants will be coached by well-experienced trainers at youth camps to compete in SEA games and other international tournaments.

Contestant (Under 17 and 19 age rank), Hnget Khar Group, Zwe Zu Linn said “I faced many challenges while preparing for this competition but I didn’t give up. I’ve been trying very hard for the badminton championships since when I was a child. I will train harder than before after this competition.”

Myanmar National Badminton Championship 2017 is set to be held for 7 days from the 24th to the 30th of December.
