Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos toured the swollen Cauca River as evacuations of nearby residents nears 25,000 amidst fears a nearby dam could burst. The construction problems at a hydroelectric dam prompted fears of massive flooding.

Heavy rains have also increased water levels in the Cauca. Colombia has ordered the evacuation of thousands of people living along the Cauca River But officials believe the situation at the dam is stabilising as contained water levels at the site increase.
