The opening ceremony for the Hpa-an District Community Centre was held at the Hpa-an Information and Public Relations Department in Kayin State on Saturday. The Union Minister and officials formally unveiled the community centre signboard and viewed round the mobile library bus and the community centre which was donated by the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation, Kayin Cultural Heritage Show rooms, the computer room, library and playgrounds.
In his speech, the, Union Minister explained that opening the mobile library will provide books to the villages, wards and schools, where residents cannot easily reach the city library. Any enthusiasts who wish to use the library are invited to come to the community centre. This is the ninth facility along with others already opened in Kawhmu, Insein, Myaungmya, Natmauk, Pyinmana, Myitkyina and Mandalay.
Afterwards, a discussion was held under the title “Youth and Literature”, and answered the questions raised from the audience.
Later in the day, the Union Minister and party met with the ethnic cultural groups, including Kayin, Mon, Shan, Pa-O and Bamar, who live in Kayin state. They also discussed holding of future literature talks and cultural shows.
The Union Minister also met the staff of MRTV and IPRD in Kayin state and inspected the retransmission station.
