Myanmar Switzerland Economic Dialogue took place at UMFCCI in Yangon, Tuesday.
The dialogue looks forward the cooperation in economic sector between Myanmar and Switzerland. The first one of its kind was held in 2013 and the last one in three years ago. They discuss the whole range of economic relations between the two countries.
State Secretariat, Economic Affairs SECO, Livia Leu said “Switzerland has been close economic cooperation partner with Myanmar not in the economic also development cooperation in many fields. on the economy, we have a few program between also have….I have come here with the private sector delegations to show that it is not just cooperation is really also a trade that chose the investment. ”
Switzerland companies are putting efforts for the economic cooperation with Myanmar and they have already invested 100 million USD in trading sector according to vice chairman of UMFCCI.
Vice Chairman, UMFCCI, Thaung Tin said “Switzerland is one of the EU countries so they came to cooperate with us for labour and economic sector. Even though EU halts in investment signing with Myanmar, Switzerland wants to make business deal with Myanmar so this is the good news for the business sector. Switzerland’s investments are quite productive in Myanmar than we can imagine.”
Currently, the mainly exports of Switzerland to Myanmar are agricultural and Marine products, Minerals, forestry, Industrial and more.
