9 August 2018

Tourists from quake-hit Gili Trawangan were evacuated on Monday with the national coast guard helping thousands to escape the island. The coast guard has been taking many of those stranded to Lembar. Tourists have been taking advantage of additional flights arranged by airlines from there.

Officials said about 4,600 foreign and domestic tourists had been evacuated from the three Gili islands off the northwest coast of Lombok since a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit on the 5th of August.
