Institutes Of Sports: Sport Competition Of ISPE Underway

3 days long sport competition of the Institutes of sports and physical education for 2017-2018 academic year was commenced in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

This is the 6th time competition which aims to produce talented athletes and raise their capacity.

24 sport events are included in it and 3 out of them are being held in Yangon.

The target is to hold this kind of competition in every December aiming to raise the performance of the athletes, Director General of Sports and Physical education department said.

Director General, Sports and Physical education department, Myo Hlaing said “We have plans to hold this kind of competition in December’s holidays in every year. We hope to produce talented and selected athletes from the institutes through this event. Three events of sport competition are being held in Yangon and the rest 21 events in here in Nay Pyi Taw.”

The athletes from total of 6 institutes of sport and Physical education participated in it.

247 athletes from the institute from Taungyi competed in 10 sport events of the competition, Headmaster of the institute said.

Headmaster, Institute of sports and physical education (Taungyi), Thet Lwin Oo said “We have trained the athletes with the expert coaches from our institutes since May. We won 7 gold medals in the first competition, and 14 in second. We hope our players win more gold medals in this competition.”

One of the players from Taungyi Institute who won the second prize in athletic sports competition expressed her experience.

Player, Ei Thet Mon said “I have practiced to be able to compete in 5000 meters competition. I worked out exercise to have good stamina once in three days. We need to have more competition in order to increase our capacity.”

According to official, aiming for the development of sport sectors in Myanmar and produce new generations, more institutes of sports and physical education will be implemented across the country. At present, another institute is being implemented in Sittway.
