14 May 2018

Israel launched celebrations of the U.S. Embassy's relocation to Jerusalem yesterday. Most envoys to the country were absent in the yesterday's event hosted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Organisers said all 86 countries with diplomatic missions in Israel were invited to the event, and 33 confirmed attendance.

Addressing dignitaries including U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and the president's daughter and son-in-law, at Israel's Foreign Ministry, Netanyahu urged other countries to follow Washington's lead. Among those present were delegates from Guatemala and Paraguay, which will open their own Jerusalem embassies later this month.
