Rakhine State Affairs: Meeting On Progress Of Development Tasks

Progress of implementing development undertakings in Rakhine State was discussed in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on the priority sectors for development in Maungtaw area which is affected by the terrorist attacks on 25th of August.

Deputy Minister U Khin Maung Tin at the State Counsellor Office stressed to implement the resettlement programs promptly. He pointed out to rebuild the villages which have been destroyed by set fire by the terrorists.

Director General, Relief and Resettlement Department, Dr. Ko Ko Naing said “We are now providing foods and other relief items to all communities who are facing the difficulties in Maungtaw area together with the responsible organizations.”

Healthcare services are also provided to the displaced people by forming mobile medical teams. Arrangements are underway to provide health treatment to the persons who will be repatriated after the verification process.

Deputy Director General, Department of Public Health, Dr. Thaung Hlaing said “In August, we are working together with WHO to give emergency healthcare services as mobile teams and 5 mobile teams are serving in Maungtaw area. We are now planning to increase the numbers of mobile team. Another one is to launch health teams in repatriation camps and give treatments to the returned persons. And we will put more efforts to the hospitals.”

The Ministry of Information is also implementing to response fake news with accurate ones.  Moreover, MayYu FM is broadcasting the information on resettlement process in local dialects.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Myo Myint Maung said “According to the recommendations, we found out three facts that are releasing and analyzing the news in time, press freedom and response the fake news with accurate ones. MayYu FM is under test run since 1st of February with 20 minutes programs with three languages; Rakhine, Burma and Bengali. Yesterday, the 40 minutes packages with each language are on air four times per day. The packages are based on the resettlement tasks, security affairs, and rule of law, peace and stability. On the other hand, the transportation, electricity, healthcare, education works and humanitarian assistances and weather forecasts are included in the packages. We are planning to announce the accurate news in time on twitter.”

The meeting also discussed promptly implementation of the national verification process, power supply, transportation, education, Telecommunications, agriculture, livestock, fishery and livelihoods matters. The outcomes of the meeting will be implemented in coming week.
