Social Security: National Level Meeting In Nay Pyi Taw

Social Security Board held its national level meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe in his capacity as the Chairman of the Social Security Board gave an address.

He pointed out that the Ministry is striving for better work place through better relations among the Government, employers and employees. Efforts are being made to provide effective health care services to the workers in cooperation with the international organizations.

There are about 1.1 million insured workers and and they are being provided with health care services at 3 workers’ hospitals, 96 township clinics, 55 departmental clinics, 3 social care well clinics and one traditional medicine clinic as well as two mobile clinics.

The Union Minister said plans are underway to cooperate with the private sector to provide more quality health care services to the workers.

Union Minister, Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, H.E. Thein Swe said “There is not enough clinics compared to the numbers of workers. So, we contact with the private hospitals and clinics for the workers to receive treatment there. We are striving to provide international standard services through various reforms. Arrangements are underway for the workers to receive better health care services in cooperation.”

It has been implementing the 9 work plans including worksite safety, social protection and health care services. In order to provide more benefits for the insured workers, the Social Security Law was enacted in 2012, and it has been taken into affect starting 1st April 2014. with the private sector.
