Tension was high on Monday across Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank ahead of the official opening ceremony of the U.S. embassy in the contested city. Israelis in Jerusalem were happy about the move. ISRAELI JERUSALEM RESIDENT, RACHEL SHPETTER said "I think it is very good thing because it should have been done a long time ago but it is better late than never, so it's just the time for it and it shows that President Trump does what he promises and this is the right thing to do. So we are all happy and I think the nation of Israel is very much with him."
ISRAELI JERUSALEM RESIDENT, JOE GRESHMAN said "I think it is wonderful that they are moving the embassy, I think it is about time and we we can't let our enemies the terrorists decide where we build what. This is the capital of this country and we need to build it, this is where the embassy needs to be."
Protests are expected to escalate on Monday as it is not only the day of the U.S embassy dedication ceremony but also the 70th anniversary of the foundation of Israel.
